Lagniappe Flavors started with bold flavor, a few pepper plants, and the idea that rebuilding something worthwhile can happen one small step at a time.
Before Lagniappe Flavors became a marketplace, flavor was already personal to me. I spent years around restaurants, food, customers, and the little details that turn an ordinary meal into something people remember.
Later, during a season when life slowed down and I had to rebuild in a different way, growing peppers gave me something simple to focus on. Those plants eventually led to homemade pepper sauce, experimenting with different kinds of heat, and paying closer attention to the personality behind every pepper, bottle, and maker.
Where It Started
Hot sauce was the first spark.
I learned quickly that heat alone was never the whole story. A good sauce can be smoky, fruity, savory, bright, sweet, tangy, garlic-heavy, pepper-forward, or somewhere in between. The best ones make you curious about the people and places behind them.
That curiosity became the beginning of Lagniappe Flavors.
Why “Lagniappe”
Lagniappe is a Louisiana word meaning “a little something extra.” I could not think of a better name for what I wanted this store to become.
It is the extra flavor that changes a meal. The unexpected gift you find while shopping for something else. The regional product you had never seen before. The maker story that makes you look twice. The discovery you did not know you needed until it was in front of you.
A Little Something Extra. That is not just a tagline. It is the idea behind the marketplace.
From Hot Sauce to a Bigger Marketplace
Lagniappe Flavors began with hot sauce and spicy foods, but the vision kept getting wider.
There are independent American makers doing great work in every corner of the country: sauces and seasonings, coffee and tea, chocolate and sweets, snacks, pantry goods, gifts, home and lifestyle products, and plenty of specialty finds that do not fit neatly into one aisle.
So the store grew with the idea.
Today, Lagniappe Flavors is being built as a curated marketplace where shoppers can explore by what they want, where it comes from, who made it, who they are buying for, or simply what catches their eye.
Louisiana Roots, Wider Horizons
The store will always carry Louisiana with it. That means hospitality, personality, good food, regional pride, and the belief that there is always room at the table for one more good story.
But Lagniappe is not limited to Louisiana products. The goal is to create a wider table for American makers and regional goods from across the country, while giving shoppers an easier way to discover them by state, city, maker, category, gift, and occasion.
Curating the Marketplace
I am not pretending the products in Lagniappe Flavors are manufactured by me. They are not.
Lagniappe Flavors is the retailer and curator. The products come from independent makers, specialty brands, suppliers, and trusted retail partners. My job is to bring those products together, organize them in a way that makes discovery easier, and build a shopping experience that gives each maker and region room to be found.
Built With Purpose
This business is also part of my own rebuilding story.
It gives me a way to take years of restaurant experience, a love of bold food, an interest in makers and regional products, and a hands-on approach to building businesses, and turn all of that into something new.
Every collection, supplier, page, product, and discovery path is another piece of that build.
What Comes Next
The marketplace will keep growing: more American makers, more states and cities, more regional stories, more gift ideas, more bundles, and more unexpected finds.
The goal is simple. Make Lagniappe Flavors a place where people enjoy the search almost as much as the thing they came to buy.
